Team Sygnum
What it means to be a regulated Swiss bank and a global digital asset specialist

Sygnum* was conceptualised at the end of 2017, a time when concerns around security and illegal activity beset the digital asset industry. It was our vision then, as it continues to be now, to build a trusted, secure, and efficient digital asset economy, and by so doing realise Future Finance – empowering everyone, everywhere with more direct access to ownership and value.
To support the realisation of our vision, it was key for us that we enter the market as a regulated entity, and fast forward three years, we are now a regulated Swiss bank and a licensed asset manager in Singapore. We provide both the security of a regulated bank and the tech-driven innovation and agility of a global digital asset specialist, which sets the platform for us to meet the digital asset needs of our clients.
What it means to be a regulated Swiss bank
Sygnum holds a Swiss banking licence and is supervised by the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA). This means that we must uphold the highest standards in quality, transparency, and security – and there is a trusted, external party which ensures that we do. One of these standards is the commitment towards anti-money laundering (AML) and counter terrorist financing (CTF), for which we have also built our own proprietary digital asset AML tool, and keep know-how and execution in-house.
At the core of being a Swiss bank is world-class governance, without which these standards cannot be upheld. In addition to a talented and interdisciplinary team, we have put together a distinguished group of globally known Board members and advisors, who have deep experience in the financial industry and digital assets. In particular, an AML committee headed by a former Special Advisor to a financial regulator has been established, in line with our focus on this area. It is the invaluable guidance from these experts which helps to steer Sygnum in the right direction.
What it means to be a global digital asset specialist
While Sygnum operates as a regulated Swiss bank, it is a global digital asset specialist and a technology company at heart. Every day, our team of digital asset experts are working towards Future Finance by leveraging the advantages of distributed ledger technology (DLT) to serve our clients with innovative products and services.
Our portfolio of regulated banking services makes the universe of digital assets bankable, convenient, and trusted. Major national currencies are seamlessly integrated in one account with leading cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, our Digital CHF stablecoin, and an expanding range of asset tokens. These assets are held in segregated wallets and protected by regular cyber-security reviews, which makes them highly secure.
With our independently controlled and fully scalable banking platform, we have the agility to configure secure infrastructure, operations and services to meet a range of diverse institutional customer needs – today, and as the digital asset universe evolves.
Sygnum – Future with heritage
We are building Sygnum for the future, and we believe future has heritage. Future Finance requires a strong regulatory and financial foundation. As a regulated Swiss bank and a global digital asset specialist, we are building this future and empowering our clients to invest in the digital asset economy with complete trust.
